To become eligible for firefighter jobs, there is certain qualification that you need to take care of like any other jobs. The first and the foremost qualification that is required for this job is that you need to be high school graduate or completion of General Education Certificate or GED.



Another qualification that is required for fire fighter jobs is a valid driver's license and a positive record. The driving license that you possess will be checked. You must also meet or establish standards at the testing and pre-employment process which will include written exams, oral board interviews, medical examinations, Physical Ability Test, Background screening, and psychological testing.

They must know about first aid and how to act in hazardous situations. They must have presence of mind and spirit to save people in trouble. They should be prepared to face emergency situations and must be brave to the core. They should be physically fit and must have a good stamina and commitment to act to the best of their abilities.

There are many firefighter training schools that give intensive training for weeks and months in their school where they impart training for breathing apparatus, ladder safety, and hose laying. You will also learn fire safety measures. A regular study will be undertaken wherein you will also get homework, this study will be monitored on regular basis for the progress. They also carry out classes and seminars. Attending these classes and seminars can increase your level of education and at the same time add on significant information to your resume.

It is expected that the number of fire fighter jobs will grow at a very fast pace as compared to other job opportunities considering the terrorist and other attacks. Once you are equipped with good training, skills sets, and education you will be eligible for volunteer paid jobs. This is because skills and physically fitness are the main basis of promotion in this field. After you get this promotion your job will include more firefighting and medical help too.
