Police Career - the Role of Law Enforcers in the Protection and Security of the People through Homeland Security Jobs
Government law enforcement plays a significant role in maintaining peace and order in all areas of the country. The police force for instance, has police jobs to enforce the law and apprehend the offenders. Police officers who take charge of the department are employed in protective service work. They are charged with the responsibility of protecting the life and property of our nation. The scope of their responsibilities include preserving the peace, preventing criminal acts, enforcing the law, and arresting those who are violators of the law. Police officers are under oath to uphold the law twenty -four hours a day.

Meanwhile, humans by nature have historically been seeking some form of protection for their life and property to help preserve their own life and welfare. The origins of police work are virtually unknown. Looking back to the days of tribal living and the early social organizations of community life, history depicts the policing of people, and of law enforcement jobs being imposed by some chief authorities. Feudal lords for instance, had retainers who saw to it that taxes were paid while these people have benefited and gained the protection and security of law and order among people. It can be noted that in the fourteenth century, without the existence of the fundamental law of the land, crimes like murder, rape, beatings, and robberies were at commonplace and almost every place was in chaos. The drive to organize and create a police employment to enforce the law had emerged in urgency.

Gradually, England began to establish some protective institutions for public justice and as these institutions developed, the influence of their work spread to other parts of the world. The Anglo-Saxons and the Normans played a role in the development of a sounder philosophy of homeland security jobs, and one that closely resembles the ideas expressed today by people all over the world. A police job, as we know it today, has evolved within our complex society into a scientifically founded field based on the principles of justice and freedom inherent in a democratic society. The whole concept of police work had to wait in its development upon an evolving system of local self-government in which non-military, non-secret police, could function as responsible regulators of community life. Police officers are responsible for preserving law and order at all times. In recent years, increased drug addiction, juvenile crime, and social change have made greater demands on every police officer. Duties may be varied, or in large city departments, may be highly specialized. As to police employment, police officers may be employed by a state, county, or municipality depending on the demand of the quantity of law enforcers that a certain local government may need.

In smaller towns and communities, officers may direct traffic during the rush-hour periods and at special local events when traffic is unusually heavy or jammed. They may administer first aid in emergency situations, assist in rescue operations of various kinds, investigate cases of breaking and entering, issue tickets, or arrest offenders of traffic or parking laws or other regulations, and they may patrol public places such as parks and streets and public gatherings for purposes of law and order. Part of police careers’ duty are sometimes called upon to prevent or break up riots and to act as escorts at funerals, parades, and other public events. As part of their routine night duties, they may check the safety of locks on the doors of business firms and see that the proper lights are burning as protection to the business firms. As officers patrol their assigned beats, either on foot or in patrol cars, they must be alert for all types of actions and situations that may arise and they must be ready to go into whatever action is necessary. Many times they must be on alert for the identification and the location of lost children. In large city departments, officers usually have more specific duties and specialized assignments. Police department, in these instances, are usually made up of special work divisions such as the division of communications, criminal investigation, firearms identification, fingerprint identification, accident prevention, and administrative services. Most police officers are trained with the use of firearms and carry a gun on their person to enforce a law on certain conditions. Finally, law enforcement and police jobs are essential forces that the government need to exercise upon the citizens of the land in order to enforce law, uphold justice, and maintain order, peace and security.
