Position Summary The Town of Breckenridge Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Officer I . Police Officers perform a variety of routine and complex public safety work in the performance and administration of police patrol, investigation, traffic enforcement and control, citizen assistance, and related law enforcement activities. Officers carry out routine and special assignments using a community oriented policing approach which emphasizes and balances partnerships, problem solving and law enforcement. Essential Job Functions For additional information regarding this position including important roles, essential job duties, knowledge, skills and abilities required, materials and equipment used, working environment, and physical activity required, please view the full position description.\u00a0 \u00a0 Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 21 years of age; citizen of the United States High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 60 - 90 hours of higher education at an accredited college or university. Valid Colorado driver's license at time of appointment. Possess a current Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certification; be eligible for certification; or, currently enrolled in a Colorado P.O.S.T Academy program. The ability to successfully complete a background check including but not limited to: Criminal history search, polygraph, psychological and physical examination required. Additional Information RECRUITMENT PROCESS Qualified applicants must attach proof of their P.O.S.T. certification or proof of current enrollment in a Police academy program with their online application. If selected to interview, candidates will be expected to participate in oral interviews. Candidates who are selected to proceed after their interview, will participate in a ride-a-long and integrity interview. If a candidate is selected to move forward in the recruitment after their ride-a-long and integrity interview, they may be offered a conditional offer of employment based on their successful completion of polygraph testing, psychological exam, medical examination, and a thorough background check. They generally relate to the following background criteria: integrity, narcotics behavior, driving history, excessive force or violence, financial responsibility and employment history and discipline.
