The world's leading private security organization, G4S, has an immediate job opportunity for a Custody Officer
. The Custody Officer supports jail operations at existing G4S staffed facilities. Responsible for the safety and welfare of incarcerated individuals, this security professional will livescan arrestees and complete all required booking documents for induction into the jail facility. The custody officer will also be required to feed the inmates and conduct hourly cell checks to insure their well-being. At times the custody officer may be required to transport inmates to a hospital or another detention facility in the clients specialized transportation van.

Specific Duties and Essential Functions
Monitor the existing inmates and ensure that they are secured and safe in their cells
Process and book new inmates into the jail facility to include livescan fingerprinting
Warm up and serve pre-packaged meals to inmates at prescribed time periods
Transport inmates to the county jail as required
The Ideal Candidate:
Education, Licenses and Certifications Required
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
Must have a current Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) issued guard card
Must be Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) Title 15 Core Course certified
Type and Length of Specific Experience Required
Must possess a minimum of one (1) year of verifiable experience as a custody officer, detention officer or police officer
Must have one of the following:
Law enforcement experience
Service in elite military forces (Navy Seals, Delta Force etc.)
Military police or combat arms
Graduate of a police/corrections academy
Possess a criminal justice degree, Associate's or higher
Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public
Effective oral and written communication skills
Active listening skills
Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
Attention to detail
Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the State, if higher
Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
Must be able to work flexible schedules
Must have access to reliable transportation
Must not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment).
Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable
Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military
Upon acceptance of a job offer, must be able to pass the following:
Physical exam, if armed or required by client contract
Physical Requirements and Environment
Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat
Walking, standing, speaking, listening, observing
Physical efforts to carry out job duties:
Standing, walking, and sitting. Minimal to no stooping or kneeling.
