Job Description:

The Director of Security provides strategic direction and guidance to the Security function and activities in order to increase customer satisfaction as well as ensure internal controls and safety measures are effectively enforced. Maintain liaison with Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement agencies, U.S. Coast Guard, Indiana Gaming Commission and Emergency Services agencies. Exercises good judgment in review of circumstances and incidents to determine appropriate actions within the limits of policies, procedures and protocol. Oversees the Risk Management and Valet functions.

Formulates, directs, and participates in the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives.

Analyzes employee metrics to optimize team and individual performance against department and financial objectives.

Solicits feedback from customers and other departments on the effectiveness of the Security service and develops action plans to address identified gaps.

Develops, along with the VP & AGM, departmental procedures and policies to ensure protection of all company assets and personnel.

Provides input and serves as credible resource in the creation of relationship building and service standard programs and executes against the strategy.

Collaborates with senior leaders (e.g., property, division, corporate) to determine effectiveness of goals.

Reviews incident and medical reports to ensure departmental compliance with internal controls and policies, investigates non-conformance and originates disciplinary action as deemed appropriate.

Reviews surveillance reports to determine compliance with regulations and department policy as necessary.

Conducts observations of property and departmental activities. Makes recommendations to improve strategic operating function when applicable.

Reinforces service, values and culture through customer relations management. Builds and maintains sustainable relationships with both internal and external customers.

Ensures proper documentation of incidents/violations. Ensures staff is in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Provides direction, vision and oversight to ensure Security department works together to accomplish goals. Communicates and inspires team to achieve objectives.

Represents management at special events and promotions.

Evaluates and actively engages Security team members in the development of talent and provides clear direction of goals and objectives. Provides formal follow-up/reviews in pursuit of performance effectiveness.

Investigates and follows up on Security incidents and takes necessary corrective action.

Ensures employees are provided timely training and communicates policy and procedure updates.

Ensures proper staffing, training and performance management of department. Models all behaviors expected from the staff including exemplary customer service. Identifies and resolves inefficiencies/challenges in related areas of responsibility. Holds team accountable for following guidelines and accomplishing objectives.

Maintains positive liaison with Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement agencies, U.S. Coast Guard, Indiana Gaming Commission and Emergency Services agencies. Coordinates investigations with said agencies and institutions and provides requested investigatory information in a timely and accurate manner.

Supervises departmental activities and determines appropriate actions.

Assists in arrests or physically restraining a resistant individual, if needed.

Supervises the Risk Manager/Security Shift Mgr. role for the property.

Assist with overseeing the Risk Management function for the property.

Assist with overseeing the Valet Department.

Performs other duties as assigned by the VP & AGM

Qualifications:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of law enforcement or security related experience. A minimum requirement of high school diploma with 10 years of law enforcement or security related experience is required.
