This position is responsible for the creation and implementation of training programs. Responsible for assessing the need, facilitating the planning, developing, implementation, and evaluation of staff education, orientation and training.
Develops programs to meet the current and future needs and regulatory requirements of the department and the organization. May perform assigned tasks within the department operations to further develop, improve or modify existing training standards as necessary.
Training Programs- Coordinates and implements all NC state-mandated law enforcement, UNC Health Care, and other regulatory training programs for professional, management, supervisory, & staff positions within the department. Determines the educational contents of training programs to meet the goals & objectives of the department.
Identifies the training needs of Hospital Police department staff. Researches and develops applicable presentations and programs. Ensures that proper documentation is filed with the state agencies, etc.
Works with each manager to develop an annual training calendar that meets the needs and desires (as much as possible) for all members of the department. Serves as a subject-matter expert for other healthcare security training within the organization.
FIT Testing- Ensures all staff is fit tested within 30 days of hire. Fit test all patrol staff annually.
Maintain fit test equipment and N-95s. Ensures proper documentation regarding FIT testing is filed with the health care system.
Hearing Protection Program- Coordinates with Occupational Health for hospital police staff receive annual hearing protection information and receive annual exam. Issue electronic ear muffs to new police officers. Maintain inventory for ear muffs.
IAHSS- Ensures new staff receives a Basic IAHSS manual within 30 days of hire. Offers review sessions for 3 certification levels as requested or needed.
Orders exams as needed or requested. Ensures that the proper documentation is file.
Analytics- Data gathering and analysis to include tracking employee training records and forecasting training certifications expirations and renewal dates, etc.
Requires Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
NC General Law Enforcement General Instructor Certification required, NC Law Enforcement Specialized Instructor preferred. Must have 5 years' experience in law enforcement training as a certified NC General Law Enforcement Instructor and One (1) year in a police supervisory role. Active IAHSS security supervisor certification and membership in state and/or local IAHSS chapter preferred.
