SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY. EMPLOYEES ARE NORMALLY HIRED AT THE MINIMUM OF THE SALARY RANGE. Salary Range: $32,696.82 - $58,137.54 Under the direction of Secretary, Julie Jones, the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is the 3rd largest state prison system in the country with a budget of 2.4 billion, approximately 99,000 inmates incarcerated and another 140,000 offenders on active community supervision. The DC has 142 facilities and more than 24,000 staff members statewide, making it the State\u2019s largest agency. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Crime Analyst II position is located in the Office of Intelligence. This position is responsible for compiling, analyzing, and disseminates information and criminal intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources, and promotes these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among law enforcement agencies. The incumbant must relate those patterns to crimes that are concurrently being investigated and deliver that information to the Chief of Intelligence\/STG Supervisor; Crime Analyst II is to assist in coordinating inter-state and intra-state information pertaining to criminal activity and criminal movement, and exercises independent judgment to ensure that accurate and reliable information is disseminated; The Crime Analyst II is to perform as senior analyst and directly supports and assists Bureau Chief in the compilation and analysis of confidential information in highly sophisticated and complex organized criminal investigations, and recommends specific investigative directions based upon such information; Evaluates and analyzes criminal intelligence information to predict the capabilities, intentions, and vulnerabilities of organized criminal groups of a highly sophisticated and complex nature and makes recommendations for investigative strategies; Prepares oral briefings, written reports, and recommendations in the form of intelligence assessments and detailed factual reports used by agency management and field supervisors to evaluate investigative priorities and case development; Prepares for and assists in providing in-service training to Crime Intelligence Analysts I; Acts as primary point of contact and Intelligence liaison for agency Phone Group lab; The Crime Analyst II utilizes the operation of audio visual and cell data training aides; Identify crime patterns by geographic area (Institutions), Regions, time of day, day of week, modus operandi, and other statistical probabilities; Utilizes computer databases, electronic spreadsheets, geographic information systems (GIS) applications, desktop publishing, word processing, and statistical applications to manipulate, analyze and present crime data; Provide tactical case support to all areas of the Correctional scope and produce reports and bulletins detailing information as it pertains to officer safety concerns; Provides accurate and professional communication both written and verbally. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA\u2019s): Essential\/Entry Level KSA\u2019s: Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel software programs; Ability to comprehend and utilize the analysis cycle; Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and writing skills; Ability to speak and write in the English language fluently; Ability to work well as a team member. Full Performance Level KSA\u2019s:\u00a0 Knowledge and understanding of public records exemptions for processing confidential information pursuant Section 119.071, F.S.; Ability to ensure all state issued equipment is utilized and maintained in a safe and ready manner consistent with DC Procedures, and Florida Administrative Code; Ability to apply a working knowledge of current Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code; Ability to conduct investigative and analytical research; Ability to respond to internal department and external agency requests efficiently, effectively and professionally; Ability to demonstrate multi-tasking abilities, along with organizational and planning skills; Ability to compile tactical, statistical and performance measure reports as directed; Ability to work with confidential documents and information without discrepancy and maintain strict confidentiality in the performance of duties dealing with criminal information and intelligence; Ability to coordinate and communicate intelligence information both internally and externally as directed; Ability to deliver accurate reports and intelligence information via visual based analytical software\u2019s. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of processional experience in data collection\/analysis, grant submission and management; or other programs that assist in the successful transition of inmates or offenders as law-abiding citizens; A certified Law Enforcement Analyst; Professional or nonprofessional experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, law enforcement, or open source investigations; Valid Driver\u2019s License. Note: A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
