To attend and successfully complete the University of Texas System Police Academy and pass the Texas license exam for peace officer.
Attend classes maintaining comprehensive notes of subjects covered in classes. Actively participates in classroom discussions and group projects. Complies with established rules and regulations governing The University of Texas System Police Academy. Complies with assignments and instructions given by the Director of Police, The University of Texas System or by any member of the Academy staff. Complies with policies of respective component institution police departments relating to their status and attendance at the Academy. Adheres to rules and regulations promulgated by the Board of Regents' of The University of Texas System. Performs related duties as required. Participate in the physical and defensive tactics training program. Participate in the firearms training. Participate in practical problem scenarios.
Other related functions as assigned.
Class C Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
High school diploma or GED. See web site for a complete list of requirements and disqualifliers. U.S. Citizen. Age 21 on commission date. Meet UT System requirements for Police Officer. Criminal history must not contain any felonies or misdemeanors above a class C within the last 10 years. Stable work history. Communicate clearly orally and in writing and provide creditable testimony in a court of law. Must successfully pass oral, written, physical testing and a thorough background investigation. Acceptable driving record and be eligible to operate a UT owned vehicle. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience working in a higher education or equivalent environment. Experience with communication equipment. Bilingual.

A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
