The Security Officer is a key member of the Ka'anapali Ali'i team who, under the general supervision of the Director of Security, is responsible to protect life, property and the assets of the Ka'anapali Ali'i owners, guests and employees.The Security Officer works closely with other department personnel in coordinating security and safety efforts throughout the property. Duties and responsibilities include:Following security guidelines.Being available to work any shifts 7 days a week and within all 24 hours in a day.Completing detailed reports for employee, guests and owner injuries, property damage reports that occur in rooms and common areas.Completing the shift log for all events which occur during the shift. Paroling buildings and grounds including beach and pool areas and monitors surf conditions.Professional communication utilizing a two-way radio.Related duties and special projects as assigned.RequirementsMust possess a valid Act 208 Guard Card and Certificate of Training as required by the State of Hawaii.Education: High School diploma or equivalent.Training and Experience: Prior experience working in security or law enforcement preferred.Job Knowledge: Knowledge of law enforcement and security practices preferred.Possession of a valid driver's license and a current Driver's License abstract from DMV.Access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated per requirements of all laws.Current CPR\/AED and First Aid certification required. Must obtain these certificates within ninety (90) days of employment if certificates are not current, or if individual has not completed these courses.Good verbal and written communication skills required. Must be able to communicate with a diverse population of employees and guests\/owners. Computer skills including typing\/word processing experience and the ability to write clear and factual reports. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be pro-active in their approach to problem resolution. Well-groomed professional appearance and demeanor.Physical Demands:Must be able to work while standing or walking for the majority of the day.Must be able to traverse the property and respond to emergency calls quickly on foot.Must be able to lift 40 pounds on a regular basis.Ability to climb a minimum ladder height of 12 feetMust be able to climb up and down eleven flights of stairs.Must meet the physical and mental health standards deemed necessary for performance of essential functions.
